This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is two-tone green with white lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. These cars continued to serve NP through the mid-1960s.

Southern
Road Number 2476 'Litchfield'

This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is pullman green with gold lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in 1924 for Great Northern for use on their Chicago-Seattle “Oriental Limited” train, it later was transitioned back to Pullman leasing service, where it served on the Southern Railroad through the early 1960s.

Ferromex
Road Number ETTX 705838

This 89’ tri-level closed autorack is grey with red bands and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 2015 by Trinity Rail this enclosed autorack design became the universal standard for most railroads by the mid-1970s, as it prevented vandalism and pilferage and helped to protect vehicles from the elements, and is commonly used to this day.

Canadian Pacific
Road Number CP 122936

This 40’ standard box car with single door with no roofwalk is red with white letteirng and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Repainted in the 1970s in bright red with the large Multimark herald, this 3900 cubic foot, 40’ car was originally built in the 1940s and belonged to series 115520-125610.

Union Pacific®

WWII POSTER SERIES CAR #11

This 50’ troop kitchen car is dark green and runs on Allied Full Cushion trucks. During WWII, Union Pacific produced a variety of morale-boosting posters that depicted the railroad’s involvement in supporting the war. This car’s poster features large cannons on UP flats and a ship.

HEINZ® YELLOW REEFER
Road Number HJHC 466

SERIES CAR #4

This 36’ wood sheathed ice reefer with truss rods is brown with yellow decorated sides and runs on Arch Bar trucks. With a fleet of 700 cars, HEINZ was able to ship their product by rail to major markets throughout the US. These yellow sided refrigerator cars represent railcars painted throughout the late 1900s and through the ‘teens’. All cars carried the distinctive “Heinz 57” but each car advertised a different product.

Great Northern

This 40’ standard box car with plug & sliding door is glacier green with red markings and runs on Bettendorf trucks. The Great Northern was a Class 1 railroad that ran from the great lakes to the west coast from 1857 to 1970, when it was merged into Burlington Northern.

This 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola is red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks. Built in the early 1940s this caboose received new paint and upgrades in the early 1980s, including the 1971 red paint scheme. It was retired from service in the late 1980s.

REPRINT

This 40’ outside-braced box car with single door is Iron Sesqui-Oxide with white lettering and runs on Andrews trucks. Built in July of 1919 and serviced in the 1930s, this car belonged to a group of over 1800 in the class X26 fleet.

This 40’ standard box car with plug & sliding door is aluminum with yellow sides and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1964 for Union Pacific and used for bulky or fragile commodities, this car was painted with the “Automated Railway” herald adopted in 1962.

Founded in 1868 by Sigmund Oppenheimer, Oppenheimer & Company was located in Chicago and sold natural animal casings to sausage manufacturers. Eventually, their success lead the company overseas and is currently headquartered in Australia.

These 40’ despatch stock cars are yellow and green with yellow lettering and run on Andrews trucks. Rebuilt in the mid-1950s at the Council Bluffs shop, these single deck stock cars were sold to United States Railway Equipment and then leased back to CNW for use across the Midwest.

These SW1500 powered locomotives are reddish/orange with white band and run on AAR trucks. From the late 1960s to the early 1970s the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway enlisted 46 EMD sourced SW1500s, painting them in Mandarin orange and white. These switchers could be found at all of Frisco’s major yards until September 1980 when they were taken over by the Burlington Northern system.

These 68’DODX flat cars are painted green with white lettering and run on Buckeye 6-wheel DODX trucks. Built by Fruit Growers Express in 1981, these heavy-duty Department of Defense flat cars belong to series 40000-40100. They’re used by the US Army and USMC to transport M1 Abrams tanks and other heavy military vehicles across the United States between bases for training and deployment.

These EMD SD40-2 locomotives are blue and yellow with aluminum trucks. This locomotive was built in 1977 as part of a large order for ATSF, and rebuilt several times in the 1990s. Some locomotives in this series later made it to BNSF in the 1996 merger. The EMD SD40-2 is a 3,000 horsepower, turbocharged locomotive with electronic control systems built from 1972 to 1989 with nearly 4,000 units produced.
