Built in the early 1940s, Knickerbocker was originally painted silver, before receiving Pullman green paint in the mid-1940s. In the late 1940s, it was repainted into a “shadow line” scheme to resemble the corrugated body sides of other cars on the roster.

Built in 1952 for Pennsylvania Railroad, this car also served for Penn Central and Conrail before being relegated to Maintenance of Way service.
