This 70’ heavyweight mail baggage car is painted in the two-tone post-war grey scheme and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in the 1910s, this car served on numerous east coast trains through the early 1970s.

Union Pacific®

This 70’ heavyweight mail baggage car is painted yellow with red stripes and grey roof and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in the 1920s, this combination mail baggage car has a special compartment for Post Office use, with dedicated mail facilities for en-route sorting. The Union Pacific was originally incorporated in 1862 and by 1944 was one of the largest railroads in the world.

Southern Pacific®

These 2-bay covered hoppers are grey with black lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1975 in Huntington, West Virginia for the Southern Pacific Railroad, they hold a capacity of 2970 cubic feet and were used to transport dense granular commodities such as sand.

Northwestern Oklahoma

These 70’ husky stack well cars are brown with white lettering and run on ACF Ride Control trucks. Built in the 1990s, these 210100-210249 series Northwestern Oklahoma Railroad well cars are part of a fleet of lease cars. The Husky-Stack® well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA.

Frienship Train Series - Car #5: Seaboard
RD#: 18071

This 40’ steel box car with single door, murphy roof and side brake wheel is white with yellow band and runs on Bettendorf trucks. The 1947 Friendship Train collected food donated by Americans in cities all across the U.S. to be shipped to the people of France and Italy who desperately needed help following the end of World War II. Ultimately, over 250 railcars of food and clothing were donated.

NASA Series - Car#10

This 100-ton 3-bay open hopper with rib sides and coal load is blue with white lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1979, this ex. Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific hopper was purchased by NASA in 1984, and was used to haul ballast and other aggregate materials for maintenance purposes along the Kennedy Space Center railroad right-of-way.

Pennsylvania Railroad

This 34’ wood sheathed caboose with straight cupola is freight car red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf Swing-motion trucks. Built in the early 1920s, this caboose was later rebuilt, and had its Arch Bar trucks replaced with more modern Bettendorf style trucks. The PRR was a Class 1 Railroad, incorporated in 1846, and was the largest railroad by traffic and revenue in the USA prior to 1950.

Western Maryland

This 50’ airslide hopper is grey with black lettering and runs on 100-Ton Barber Roller Bearing trucks. This hopper was leased to the Western Maryland for flour and sugar service in the Baltimore, MD area. Equipped with a special epoxy lining, these cars were specifically designed for use with fine-grained commodities, like powdered sugar, that could settle en-route making unloading difficult.

This 48’ rib side container is white with aluminum ribs and blue lettering. Hercules Freight specializes in US to Canada less-than-truckload shipments from ports across the western United States. These 48’ containers can be found filling the space in the bottom position of intermodal well-cars, with equallength or longer containers above them.

Circus Series - Car #5: Great Northern

This 40’ standard box car with double doors is brown with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. In an effort to develop a new paint scheme, Great Northern decorated a number of box cars in different experimental paint schemes in 1956 and sent them across the GN network for feedback. Due to the bright and gaudy colors, this group of cars were dubbed the “Circus Cars”.

Coe Rail

These 70’ well cars are brown with white lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in the early 1990s, this 5400-5549 series Coe Rail Leasing well car accepted containers up to 48’ in length in its bottom well position. The Husky-Stack® well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA.
