This diner car, Pikes Peak, was used on trains in the heart of the Rockies, such as the famous “Prospector.” D&RGW was formed in 1870 and operated the highest mainline railroad in the United States through the Colorado Rockies at an altitude of 10,240 feet.

Built in the Altoona Shops in 1926 as number 8015 it was later rebuilt, renumbered, and painted into the new Keystone scheme. It also received diesel engine power units affixed under the car to provide electricity for cooking ovens.

This 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola is white with green roof and green lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in the late 1920s, this CE-7 all-steel caboose was later rebuilt by ATSF and painted in a Christmas-themed red, white and green scheme. It toured the Santa Fe network for about a month during the holidays in 1973 before being painted into its standard brown paint.

Celanese was founded in 1918 in New York City as the American Cellulose & Chemical Manufacturing Company, initially producing fabrics for airplane manufacturing. They adopted the name “Celanese Corporation” in 1927 and began producing synthetic cellulose acetate fabrics and yarns for textile companies.

Built by Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, this car was constructed in 1964 at the Havelock Shops. With a 4974 cubic foot capacity and a 10’ sliding door, these cars were ideal for large and bulky loads, such as dried lumber.

New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.

This 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola is green with yellow ends and white lettering and runs on Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks. Built in 1930 for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, this caboose was later rolled into Burlington Northern after the CB&Q merged with Northern Pacific and Great Northern Railway. After the merger it received a fresh coat of BN Green along with a stencil denoting “Yard Service Only.” It continued to serve the railroad through the late 1970s before being retired.

Built in the early 1950s for Great Northern, this car featured a single sliding door and a 3898 cubic foot capacity. In the early 1971, it received a rebuild and fresh coat of BN Green after Great Northern merged to form Burlington Northern and remained on the roster for a few more years before being retired.

This 40’ standard box car with single door and no roofwalk is brown with white lettering and run on Roller Bearing trucks. HERB-1 was a non-revenue car used for safety awareness across the MP system. Officially sanctioned by MP and applied to the car sides in 1979 by an employee, the artwork was designed in the style of Herbie Meyer, a legendary early graffiti artist and switchman for MP who retired in 1980.
