This 5,277-cubic foot capacity 50’ general service boxcar with Roller Bearing trucks was built for Railbox in 1980. It then made its way to Seaboard System, and then to CSX. CSX was formed through the 1986 mergers of Chessie System and Seaboard System/ Family Lines, and continues to operate today across more than 21,000 miles of track in the Eastern United States.

This 1761 cubic-foot capacity gondola with Bettendorf trucks was built in the mid-1960s and used for large or bulky loads. Erie Lackawanna was formed through the 1960 merger of the Erie Railroad, and the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad.

Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe

Built in 1944, this FT-V class flatcar with Bettendorf trucks was used in general service and had a capacity of 140,000 pounds. Founded in 1859, Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America up until 1996, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.

During WW2 the “Higgens Boat” or Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LVCP) was designed to get troops and equipment from Naval shipsto shore safely and efficiently. The Higgens did just that. They served in every theater of the war and lasted well into the last half of the 20th Century.

SRN ex-Greenville & Northern Railway

Ex-Per Diem Car #3

This ex-Greenville and Northern Railway boxcar with Barber Roller Bearing trucks was used for general service. It was later obtained by the Sabine River & Northern. SRN is a short line in Texas that primarily hauls pulpwood and finished paper products from mills and finishing plants. SRN has connections with both BNSF and Union Pacific.

This G-26-class 65’ mill gondola with Bettendorf trucks was designed to haul finished structural steel shapes and other bulky loads, and featured drop ends that allowed the gondola to carry loads longer than the car. Pennsylvania was a large Class 1 railroad formed in 1846 and grew to be a predominant shipper on the east coast until 1968 when it merged with rival New York Central to form Penn Central.

Built in the late 1960s by the ATSF Topeka Shops, this CE-1 caboose with Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks was rebuilt in 1988 and modernized with additional amenities for crews, including a refrigerator and new seating areas. Also, at this time, it was painted in the newest ATSF red and yellow scheme with large circle cross logo.

This 50’ boxcar with Roller Bearing trucks was built in 1977 for CNW series 155600-156199. It was later rolled into the Union Pacific fleet, receiving a UP shield but retaining it’s CNW reporting mark. Union Pacific continues to operate today as one of the largest Class 1 railroads in North America with over 32,000 miles of track.

The Iowa Interstate Railroad is a Class II railroad that is headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Founded in 1984, it operates over 580 miles across former Rock Island trackage through Iowa and Illinois, from Council Bluffs to the outskirts of Chicago. The IAIS is the only regional railroad that has interchange connections to every Class I railroad. In 2024, it is celebrating 40 years of operation.

These 100-Ton 3-bay open hoppers are employed in Union Pacific sugar beet service, and come from various BN, CS and CNW railcar fleets, some having a complex ownership history. Three of the cars are still wear their Burlington Northern paint scheme, with an intermediate owner’s reporting mark – the Central Tennessee Railway & Navigation Company – now a part of the Nashville & Eastern Railroad, which itself is a subsidiary of the Nashville & Western; an RJ Corman company. The fourth car still wears its Chicago & North Western paint scheme and reporting mark – today owned by Union Pacific.
