Heavyweight horse cars were designed to transport valuable livestock between race tracks and training facilities during the 20s and 30s. During WW2 they moved cavalry units, acted as early auto transport cars, and then, as they transitioned with lightweight cars, became express baggage cars.

These 100-ton 3-bay open hoppers are black with yellow lettering and run on Roller Bearing trucks. CSX is the culmination of the mergers of several railroads that provided the bulk of coal and ore shipping for most of the 20th Century. These were built in 1985 as part of the C&O fleet that became CSX in 1987.
