This 80’ heavyweight diner is painted in the tri-color scheme and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in 1925 as number 968, this diner car was later given the name “Fraunce’s Tavern” in commemoration of one of George Washington’s favorite taverns in Virginia. It was was used on interstate C&O trains throughout the system and continued to serve for C&O through the 1960s before being retired.

This 56’ general service tank car is black with white lettering and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Used by St. Louis Southwestern (Cotton Belt) in fuel service, this 20,488-gallon capacity tank car was built by GATX in their Sharon, Pennsylvania plant in 1966. Cotton Belt was founded in 1891 and became a Southern Pacific subsidiary in 1932, before eventually fully merging in 1992. It is now a heritage component of Union Pacific.

Built in 1918 for Florida East Coast Railway, this design was state-of-the-art for the time, and included automatic knuckle couplers, a metal underframe and roof, automatic air brakes, insulation, and U.S. safety appliances.

Built in 1967, this class B-74A boxcar was used in general service by Chessie System. It was shopped and repainted and upgraded in the early 1980s, and continued in service through the 1990s. In 1972, Chessie System was formed through the mergers of Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, and the Western Maryland Railway and was headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

Alaska Railroad is a Class II railroad that was founded in 1914, and currently runs between Seward and Fairbanks along 656 miles of track.

These 50’ standard box cars with single door are green with yellow lettering and run on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1945 as 40’ cars, they were later rebuilt into a 50’ cars featuring DF loaders, joining Class XMLc. Reading can be traced back to 1833 as the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad, one of the first railroads in the United States. Over time it became just ‘Reading,’ and remained profitable through World War I. By the 1960s, declining profits lead to bankruptcy in 1971. In 1976, the remaining assets were merged with other railroads to form Conrail.
