These 70’ husky stack well cars are red wtih white lettering and run on ASF Ride Control trucks. Built in 1992, this 203000-203099 series well car accepted containers up to 48’ in length in its bottom well position. The Husky-Stack® well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA.

Union Pacific®

These 50’ airslide hoppers are aluminum with red lettering and run on 100-Ton Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1976 as part of series 20590-20639, these cars were specifically designed for use with fine-grained commodities, like powdered sugar, that could settle en-route making unloading difficult.

Friendship Train Series Car #2: New York Central

RD#: NYC 161500

This 40’ standard box car with single door has red and yellow decorated sides and runs on Bettendorf trucks. The 1947 Friendship Train collected food donated by Americans in cities all across the U.S. to be shipped to the people of France and Italy who desperately needed help following the end of World War II. Ultimately, over 250 railcars of food and clothing were donated.

NASA Series Car #7

RD#: NLAX 178

This 50’ steel side, 14 panel, fixed end gondola wtih low cover is synthetic red with white lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1966 by Ortner, this ex. Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific gondola was purchased by NASA in late 1984, and featured a removable cover. Used primarily for right-of-way maintenance, this gondola was retired in 2011 at the end of the Space Shuttle Program.

Union Pacific®

This 70’ heavyweight horse car is yellow with grey roof and red lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in 1927, these cars were very popular in the 1930s for transporting horses to and from horse races. Union Pacific horse cars held up to twenty-four horses in separate stalls with feed and water troughs. This horse car ended its service as an express baggage car in the late 1960s.

New Haven with New Ballon Roof

This 70’ heavyweight baggage car is green with white lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in 1927, as part of series 5570-5589, this all-steel mail baggage car had floor sockets for 54 mail storage stanchions and a baggage capacity of 60,000 pounds. The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad operated throughout New England until 1968 when it was merged with the Penn Central

Pennsylvania Railroad

This 50’ wagon top box car with double doors is iron sesqui-oxide with white herald and lettering and runs on Coil Elliptic trucks. Built in 1937, as part of series 48300-49299, the Pennsylvania Railroad’s “Round Roof” series of cars were used mainly for hauling automobiles and were designed with a new 10’ internal height clearance. To clear the low tunnel and stone bridge arches common in the east, the roofs were curved at the sides.

Norfolk Southern

This 2-bay covered hopper is light grey with black lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing Trucks. This car was one of 100 in Built in 1998 as part of series 294220 – 294319 by Thrall Car Manufacturing Company. These cars were intended for cement service on the Northeastern District.

This 48’ rib side container is aluminum with yellow logo. EMP (Equipment Management Program) is a domestic container service offered jointly by Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern. EMP is one of the largest container networks in the United State serving most major cities. CP, CN, KCS, and Iowa Interstate are all agent railroads participating in the EMP program.

Canadian Pacific

These F7 A & B units are painted tuscan red with a grey band and nose. Built in the early 1950s, these EMD locomotives were used on Canadian Pacific passenger trains. Founded in 1881 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canadian Pacific owns approximately 14,000 miles of track all across Canada and into the United States.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy

These 40’ standard box cars with single door and no roofwalk are red with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1953, these cars were part of 550 XM-32 boxcars overhauled by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1968 at its Havelock shops. The CB&Q had extensive trackage throughout the Midwestern United States before merging other railroads to form Burlington Northern in 1970.

Western Pacific®

These 40’ despatch stock cars are brown with white lettering and run on Bettendorf trucks. Beginning in 1927, Western Pacific began to convert approximately four hundred 1916 era 40’ boxcars into single-deck stock cars. Many cars from this rebuild program continued to serve in a MOW capacity even into the 1970s.

Circus Series Car #2: Great Northern

This 40’ standard box car with double doors is brown with large white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. In an effort to develop a new paint scheme, Great Northern decorated a number of box cars in different experimental paint schemes in 1956 and sent them across the GN network for feedback. Due to the bright and gaudy colors, this group of cars were dubbed the “Circus Cars”.
