Commonwealth 6-Wheel Passenger
These 6-wheel Commonwealth trucks were designed to meet the requirements of high-speed passenger and freight trains of the 1940s. Strong, lightweight, and adaptable to customer needs, it helped make smoother, more reliable transportation possible on America's rails. While the Buckeye truck (MTL #1173) was of similar design, it was used primarily for heavyweight loads. Commonwealth trucks more often found duty under lightweight rolling stock.
