New HavenN Scale Collector — 2007 N Scale Collector Convention
Patrick McGinnis wanted the image of the New Haven to stand out and with that in mind hired a top designer to come up with a logo and colors that anyone would know instantly; that in fact they were looking at a New Haven. Most of the railroads of the day used a shade of brown that was pretty dull by comparison. The design complement of professor and artist Herbert Matter and Yale art professor Norman Ives put forth this new image of the New Haven with a red orange, white and black paint scheme in various configurations. The 40’ single door box car in the magnificent red orange made its debut in April 1955. The 50’ plug door was built by Pullman Standard in 1965 and was the last new freight equipment the New Haven ordered. Price is $48.00 USD for the 2-pack.
