Micro-Trains is proud to announce the release of our all-new U.S. Navy Series in N scale, which showcase prominent Navy vessels from the past and present. Each features a unique rendering of the vessel’s class silhouette, official identification hull number, years in service, vessel emblem and U.S. Navy emblem.

U.S. Navy Series Car #2 bears the silhouette of the Essex Class Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Hornet, CV-12. Commissioned in 1943, the Hornet served in the Pacific Theater throughout World War II, and was regularly dispatched to the 7th fleet in the Far East during the Vietnam conflict. Measuring 872 feet long with a beam of 93 feet, the Hornet was capable of cruising in excess of 32 knots. Her place in history was secured in the late 1960’s as the recovery carrier for Apollo space missions.
