This UP synthetic red 40’ drop bottom gondola has large white "Union Pacific" letters, white stenciling and runs on brown Bettendorf trucks. This car was built in June of 1951 by General American Transportation Corp. (GATC) located in Chicago, IL. Part of the post-war rebuilding program, UP ordered 1000 gondolas to be built by GATC, and some of these hard working cars survived into the 1980s.
