These GP9 powered A-unit locomotives are painted green with yellow bands and yellow and green lettering. They were built in May 1957 by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors as part of six-loco build #7540 for Minneapolis St. Louis, which was merged into CNW on November 1, 1960. CNW 604 and 608 were renumbered in 1972 to 4305 and 4309 respectively.
