These 50' flat cars with straight sides, side mount brake wheels and steel plate loads are painted box car red with white lettering and run on archbar trucks. The American Car & Foundry built these flat cars in December of 1929. The ampersand in the road number hints at the cars’ age; the railroad excluded that character from its road numbers in 1938. Santa Fe began life as a line following the Santa Fe Trail, assisting westward-bound immigrants.
