These GP-9 powered locomotives are painted dark green with white numberboards and buff lettering. They were built in 1955. An EMD GP is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1954 and August 1963. 3,436 examples of this locomotive model were built for American railroads. Power was provided by an EMD 567C sixteen-cylinder engine which generated 1,750 horsepower. Many rebuilt GP9s remain in service today with shortline railroads and industrial operators. Some remain in rebuilt form on some major Class I railroads, or as switcher locomotives.
