Trenton, Nova Scotia, in March 1957 and serviced in September 1975. Charged with the responsibility of keeping all the
track, truck, baggage and freight scales on their respective lines in perfect condition, the scale inspector’s arrival was often

caboose. Immediately upon arrival at the terminal, they were set aside and subjected to a minimum of switching. Under no
circumstances were they to be used in switching other cars in the train.

bearing trucks. Typical lading for these cars included cement, sand, potash, soda ash, lime, alumina, fertilizers,
dolomite, soap, salt, plastic pellets and flour. Since many of these materials were highly corrosive, the twin bay
covered hoppers were designed to withstand the freight’s effects and keep maintenance regulations to a minimum.
