operation of the Pacific Campaign during World War II. This was the first time that aircraft carriers from opposing sides launched strikes against each other. The Japanese deployed 4 large carriers, the Kaga, Akagi, Soryu and the Hiryu in an effort to sink the 3 American carriers, the Enterprise, Hornet and the damaged Yorktown defending Midway Island. This commemorative seven-car freight set features all seven of the aircraft carriers involved in the Battle of Midway.
